File system issues with Offline available folders in Windows 7 RTM
Hello. I have been using the "Always available offline" feature of XP, Vista for some time but Windows 7 is giving me lots of headaches. I store my files on a Win2k3 Server File share, and my home folder is mapped az Z:\. The contets of this driver are made "Always available offline". Issues with Windows 7: Issue1 / I'm currently online - files are available I cannot rename most (not all!) of the folders. Windows returns the following error: "the action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program" The file is definitively not used by any application under my control. I suspect that indexing or some similar internal component is accessing the file. I tried to pause indexing, close all windows and apps - nothing helps. Tried to format the csc databse (reinitialize), didn't help either Issue 2/ Trying to sync to a linux file share. With XP and Vista, it works flawlessly with Windows 7 it cannot sync most of the files, due to some sharing violation (file being used again...) A temporary workaround was to turn FAKE OPLOCKS on in smb.conf (fake oplocks = yes) I don't think it is the right way to do it. Am I the only one using offline available files and having such issues with both W2K and Linux/Samba? I'm using Windows 7 RTM, 6.1.7600 Any help is appreciated

I am also experiencing issue 1 with Windows 7 RTM. I have my home directory stored on a Windows 2003 server on our corporate network (I'm the Windows 7 genuine pig) which is mapped as the Y: drive from Active Directory user object. I added a folder from the Y: drive into the Documents library to use as my corporate document store. The Y:folder is automatically set to sync from thefolder share settings. I then renamed the Y: documents folder so it starts with an underscore (i.e Folder to _Folder) from the Documents library window. This worked and I thought this library thing was great... Then I noticed it didn't rename the folder it created another one so now I have Folder and _Folderin my Y: drive and on the server.I think this is some kind o of symlink asit doesn'ttake up more space butnot all my files are accessable from _Folder!I then tried to delete and rename the _Folder which reports the same error as above. I then removed this folder from the documents library, disabled offline folders and rebooted. On the Windows 2003 server I renamed the _Folder back to Folder. On boot up ofWindows 7 it nowonly shows the one Folder but I still cannot rename it! This is a very frustrating bug and renaming the folder from the server side is notwork for manypeople so is not a great work around. David NeufeldSr System Admin.

Same here ... I'm gonna have to find another solution if MS does not address this issue.
