On any Windows client if I map a 2 network shares located on Server 2008 R2 on the same drive, file transfers take forever. For example, I want to move File1 from a mapped drive (J:) to another mapped drive (M:). Each share is located on the exact same physical drive on the server. However, when on Windows clients, if I want to copy or move File1 it takes forever; similar to copying/moving File1 from a internal drive to an external drive. Is there a reason why the Windows OS or Server OS can't quickly move File1 as if I was doing the same action on the server itself? Thanks!
