Find printer driver for XP computer that needs to share Windows 7 attached printer?
I have a HP laserjet 4200 printer that I just moved over to my new Windows 64 bit computer (using a Sewell parallel/centrex printer port to USB cable). I was able to connect easily to another Windows 7 computer in my network and on my Netbook that runs XP. I had some problems with the printer (it would not print multiple copies because of "can't store job problem") so I removed the printer and reinstalled it (which actually happened automatically when the computer rebooted). After that, the computer shares easily with the Windows 7 computer but I am having problems with my Netbook XP computer. I can find the HP 4200 but as I install it, I get a message that it now needs the correct printer driver. I downloaded the PCL 6 XP driver from the HP site and that is still rejected as being the wrong .inf driver. I even tried the Windows 7 64 bit driver but that did not work either. I also downloaded the Windows XP universal PCL6 driver but this comes with about 12 different drivers and I gave up after the first 4 .inf files were rejected. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
