Folder Redirection and offline files and folders
Hello, We are using Windows 7 ENT x86 and Server 2008R2 as file server. We have roaming profiles and folder redirection for as much items as possible ( desktop, appdata, favorites, Pictures, Videos, Docs, desktop ). All works fine and the folder are available offline for use. The problem is when the logged on user initiates a synchronisation through the sync center we see an error in the sync center that the IE index.dat file is in use and cannot be syncrhonised. We do not see this error when the sync is forced during reconnection or logoff. No anti-virus installed. Any suggestions ?

This is not the problem in my case. I can fully sync and use the redirected folders but when the logged on user syncs the offline files through sync center He re recieve an error that the index.dat file is in use and cannot be synced. We are using FQDN names for redirection. Windows 7 ENT and SRV2008R2 as file server.

Hi, It seems the IE index.dat file causes the problems, please refer to http://blogs.msdn.com/b/askie/archive/2008/12/31/index-dat-to-move-or-not-to-move.aspx. You can try to delete some index.dat files if you want to. Hope it works. Lionel, Using group policy preferences I have redirected the following reg keys to the local appdata. This solved the problem. Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Cookies -> To %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Extensible Cache\ietld\CachePath -> To %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\IETldCache Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\LowCache\Extensible Cache\ietld\CachePath -> To %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\IETldCache\Low Success.
