Folder permissions on Windows & and FQDN
Experiencing problems with access to a folder for one particular user. User is a member of group that has access to a shared folder on the network. When using \\Server\Folder everything works great; however, when using \\Server.fqdn.local\Folder access
is denied. What's strange is that it allows read and listing but not writing. Any thoughts? Your help is appreciated.

I think, that this can be an internet security setting problem. If your
security settings for "Local Intranet" and e.g. "Internet" differ and
\\Server is set to be "Local Intranet" whereas \\Server.fqdn.local is
not set to be "Local Intranet" thus probably belonging to "Internet"
you could see such a behaviour.
Another possibilty could be the Win7 Credential Manager (under Control
Panel). Open it, to see, if it connects to \\Server via other
credentials as to \\Server.fqdn.local .

Thanks for the help. Credential manager didn't offer much more information. Looking into the security settings as you mentioned.

Hi,
\\Server\Folder, here the server is computer name.
\\Server.fqdn.local\Folder, I think this should be the full computer name, maybe it should be
\\computername.domainname\Folder.
You may ping the computername.domainname with command line for test.
