Forgot User Name password for signing onto Windows XP.
I forgot the password for my user name and I did not create a password recovery disk. Further, I did not set up a second user account, so I cannot go to a second account to sign on. Does anyone know a way to get past my password problem so that I can sign-on and hopefully not have to reinstall windows and lose all my files. 1 person needs an answerI do too

Microsoft policy will not cover up password recovery process or by passing password.

you can go into safe mode (F8 at logo when booting up) and enter as administrator and then go to accounts and change windows password and that's with XP. I haven't forgotten password for a pc before but can enter any XP pc in safe if the owner hasn't gone into safe mode and designated a password for "administrator" and usually only have a password for the user account but never have tried on Vista or Win7.
