Frequent Repairs on Wireless Connection
I have a Dell dimension and we have a broadband wireless connection through a router. In this computer, the connection with the browser keeps shutting off even though the wireless connection says "excellent." We have to keep repairing the connection for the internet to live again. We are using Windows XP Pro SP3. This problem does not happen with any other laptop or computer in the house.

Try updating the firmware on the router.

Hi Tinker7, Method 1This issue may occur if theEnable IEEE 802.1X authentication for this network check box is selected. If this check box is selected, but there is no server to authenticate against, the connection is disconnected. If you reestablish the wireless network connection, it disconnects again after a short time. The computer disconnects from a wireless network after random time intervals in Windows XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/910387Method 2If the above step fails then I would suggest that you update the wireless network adapter driver on the computer by visiting the adapter manufacturer website.Information about hardware device drivers for Windows XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/319908 Hope this helps!Halima S - Microsoft Support.Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
