GPO Not Working - Offline Folders Redirection
I've now tried this on three seperate systems/rebuilds - all with the same results.I configure my system through GPEdit.MSC and enable 'Do not automatically make redirected folders available offline'. The same policy is also enabled on the Domain. As soon as I redirect any system folder to a network share/drive - it starts making those files offline. I have to manually go into the Offline Files and turn Offline off on those share, and then delete the cached files.I did a gpresult /v >c:\policy.txt and found the following: The following GPOs were not applied because they were filtered out ------------------------------------------------------------------- Local Group Policy Filtering: Not Applied (Empty) Folder Redirection ------------------ N/A From what I can see in the GPResults - all of the other policies from the Domain are being applied - only this one is not.Any thoughts/suggestions?Joseph W. Hi, This policy is for Windows Server 2003 and earlier systems. You will see that this policy does not exist under User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files in Group Policy. After Windows Vista, this policy has been located under User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Folder Redirection. If your domain server is Windows Server 2003, you may edit this GPO in Windows 7 computer. Please launch MMC from Start Search box, add Group Policy Object Editor and link it to a domain server. Then, add GPO for your Windows 7 computers OU and edit this policy. Then this policy will be applied in Windows 7 systems.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Arthur,The policy that I'm referring to is the User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Folder Redirection. My domain is Windows 2008 based. I don't have this issue with Vista/XP/2003/2008 - only with Windows 7 (I haven't tried 2008r2)... As I stated - I have the policy set both at the computer level - and the domain level - neither is being applied...ThanksJoseph W. Leathlean

You may check if it is caused by settings of Security Filtering. Please refer the following article. Security filtering using GPMC If the issue still occurs, there may be any GPO that conflict with it. How does it work if you create a new OU and only link this GPO to it?

That is definetely not it.I built a fresh Windows 7 RTM Box. Did NOT join to the domain. All I did was set the local GPO policy to prevent folder redirection.IT STILL DID IT!!!! Any folder where I use the GUI to re-direct the location of any of the special foldersto a network share is automatically made available offline.Interestingly enough - if I modify the folder locations through RegEdit and restart - I don't have the problem. Only occurs when I use the Location Tab on the folders properties pages... Joseph W. Leathlean
