I have a gateway laptop. I use a large monitor and cordless keyboard/mouse.. If I shut the laptop the large screen goes off. Is there a way to disable that so the laptop can be closed or mostly closed. Not sure if it is a switch or what.

Hi If I am understanding the problem corectly (and if I do, then this has nothing to do with Vista Security) you will want to go to the Control Panel > Power Options > and select the active plan (which should be balanced) and click the "change plan settings" > under turn off display select "Never". For more settings you can click on the "change advanced power settings".Given the fact that you have a laptop, you should have the possibility do change the action upon closing the lid.
