Hi, Firstly, may I know if the Windows Vista Business Edition computer could connect to the shared folder of Windows Vista Home Basic Edition computer before? or have you installed some update packages or third-party applications on both computers before the issue occurred? Regarding the error message Access is denied, we can conclude that the issue can be caused by the factor that the permissions of the file sharing were not configured properly or some third-party security software blocked the file sharing. Please refer to the following information to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Check the file sharing settings on the system and the properties of the folder which you want to share: 1) Ensure that file sharing is enabled as described in the Enabling File and Printer Sharing Options section of this article. 2) Right-click the folder that you want to share, and then click Properties. 3) Click the Sharing tab. Click Advanced Sharing and click Permissions to check if the user or group names and their permissions to access the files in the shared folder are proper. 4) Click the Security tab and check the if the user or group names and their permissions are proper configured. 2. Perform a Clean Boot environment on Windows Vista Home Basic Edition computer to check our issue: Clean Boot ======= 1) Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility. 2) Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3) Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". 4) Restart the computer and test the issue. NOTE: we can go back to normal boot by running msconfig again and checking on Normal Startup in the General tab. In the Clean Boot Environment, the third party services and applications are disabled, please try to access shared folder of Windows Vista Home Basic Edition computer from the Windows Vista Business Edition computer again to see if it helps.
