Hard drive light blinks once a second and seems to cause frame skipping in gaming applications.
Like the title says my hard drive light blinks about once a second whenever the computer is on, never stops. I am running Windows XP Pro 2002 SP3 on a Pentium 930d 3.0ghz processor, Asus P5ld2 motherboard, 4x512mb crucial DDR2-667 memory, 250gig WD sata HD, 8800 GTS 320mb DDR and 1000 watt PS. I have plenty of horsepower for XP and WoW. The lag seems to happen right after the hard drive light blinks and maybe skips a frame or 2, just enough to make it annoying and but not hindering. My system is clean and not throttling or overheating. I have reinstalled windows a few times and that fixes it 4/5 times. It has been months since I have reinstalled, but it seems like I remember the flashing comes back after installing some drivers or windows updates. I have tried messing with the page file, even turned it off, still blinks. I am open to any suggestions or ideas anyone might have.1 person needs an answerI do too

Do you have a disc in your optical drive? Try removing the disc, or disconnecting power to the optical drive (after powering the system down).Do you have the network indicator showing by the clock? Try disabling it.
