Hard ware problem after using Windows 7 Easy Transfer
I am upgrading users from older HP laptops to Dell Laptops. The dells are i5 and the HPs are core 2 duo. I don't really think that really matters. What happens is that after configuring the dell with the user's account, setting up email, printers, IM, ITunes, I then run WET7. Everything seems ok, but when you reboot, it comes up to the ctrl-alt-del screen. The Mouse, Keyboard, Touchpad, and stick are all disabled/frozen. There is a little HD activity, but I can leave it for hours and it will be the same. I finally found a way past it, by pressing F8 and then choosing the last choice - disable the driver signing enforcement. It will boot up, no problems....except it says I am in test mode. What really stinks is if you have not done any Windows Updates, and have not manually created them, there are few if any restore points. I have found not to do Sys Restore from the recovery options unless it is a last resort - it tends to not be able to be undone, etc. So the issue is that WET7 pulls something from the HP and puts it on the Dell that could be a driver issue, or maybe something more elusive - like Obi Wan told Quigon about..... Unfortunately for me to be able to concentrate on the here and now, I need to fix this – in case this happens on a deployed system. Using System Restore will get you back to no issue, but then some of the settings from WET7 will not be in place any longer, but at least the transferred files will be. Any suggestions, from disabling the driver enforcement permanently to adjusting the WET7 settings, to prayer are welcomed... Thank you K

What did you include in the file and setting transfer? Are you using USMT or the Easy Transfer Wizard. Try running the WET after the OS and all of the same applications are installed. It should migrate all of the settings from previous computer- the user state if you will. By creating a custom WET file with the wizard you will be able to exclude the offending and unneeded application settings. keyboard, touchpad, stick from the HP. With all of the same applications installed on the Dell the user logon, mail settings and all should transfer.
