Hawking wireless card not finding home network
I am having a problem with my card. I have a Hawking wireless card (HWP54G) and Win7RC1 seems to have found my card. I confirmed it by checking it out on device manager. It shows the card in the list. But for some reason, the card cannot find my home network. Actually, it could not find any network around. I tried to search for the networks and I could not find them. I am getting stumped and frustrated. The new windows looks good, except for the compatibility issues. Does anyone havea similar problem and how did you fix it without buying a new card?ThanksBTW: My last OS was WinXP, if that helps.

Hello, Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following questions: 1. Would you please let me know whether the Hawking Wireless card could work normally when using Windows XP? 2. Is there an exclamation mark or question mark beside the card in Device Manager? 3. What's the brand or model of the Wireless router? Can other computer detect the Wireless network? Please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Upgrade the firmware of the Hawking Wireless card and the Wireless router. 2. Please go to Device Manager, right click your hardware device in the list and select Update Driver Software; then click Search automatically for updated driver software. Note: Drivers on the Windows Update site are directly provided by hardware manufacturers. Microsoft tests drivers in various environments before they are published; however, we cannot guarantee all drivers will work on all hardware platforms as there are too many different models, although their hardware ID are the same as the standard version. In some cases, due to hardware modifications by different manufacturers, the driver updates may cause some error. If it does not work on your issue, I'd suggest you installing the Vista driver in Compatibility mode. Remove and rescan that hardware device in Device Manager, right-click on the driver executable/installer file -> Properties and select the Compatibility tab; click the checkbox before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows Vista in the list-down box; then try installing the device driver via Run as administrator. In addition, you can use the Windows XP driver for testing. Meanwhile, please understand that Windows 7 is a new operating system and whole driverstore has been reprogrammed; you might wait for another period of time till the retail version is released and push the vendor company to upgrade their device driver. Thanks for your time and understanding! For more details, please look at the first Sticky thread at the top of this forum. What can I do if my hardware does not work? This will give you some guidelines. 3. If the driver is installed successfully, please temporary turn off firewall and verify the Wireless service for a test. a. Click "Start", go to run, type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in the open box and press Enter. Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. b. Right click the "WLAN AutoConfig" service and choose Properties. c. On General tab click Start. d. Choose Automatic next to Startup type. e. Click OK. Thanks, Novak

Hi Novak,Here are the answers to your three questions: 1. Would you please let me know whether the Hawking Wireless card could work normally when using Windows XP? >> Yes, it did.2. Is there an exclamation mark or question mark beside the card in Device Manager? >> No, there is no question mark. It shows that the driver was accepted.3. What's the brand or model of the Wireless router? Can other computer detect the Wireless network?>> I am using the Linksys xxxx. My father's computer is hooked up, so it can work. Also, the laptop I am on can acess the router.I called the company and they told me they are waiting for Win7 to come out so they can create the drivers for their products. I cannot wait that long. I purchased another card online (Linksys) and this has Vista drivers. The card in the computer does not have Vista drivers. The last they made were XP drivers.I also tried your steps you reccomended, but it still did not work.ThanksMotherboard: Gigabyte MA74GM-S2 CPU: AMD Phenom X3 Memory: 4GB DDR2 800 Drive(s): 160GB SATA (hooked up), 160GB IDE, 500GB SATA Optical: Lightscribe CD-RW/DVD-RW dual layer drive (hooked up)

It appears that only theRev R( check here )version of the card has Vista drivers here. I assume that's what you checked and moved on. Correct? ASUS P4PE-P4 Extreme 3.4gHz-2gb G.Skill PC3200-XPSP3:55gb-Win7RC:17gb-DATA:500gb-ASUS N6800GT

I gave up on it. I bought a refurbihed wireless network card from Linksys and soon as I loadedthe software and installed the card, I got the signal. So, I am getting rid of the Hawking card. I cannot wait for them to create a driver formy model card. I have important things I have to do (looking for a job and retraining myself online - it's much faster on my desktop than my laptop). Thanks to Novak and Nano Warp for your help.Motherboard: Gigabyte MA74GM-S2 CPU: AMD Phenom X3 Memory: 4GB DDR2 800 Drive(s): 160GB SATA (hooked up), 160GB IDE, 500GB SATA Optical: Lightscribe CD-RW/DVD-RW dual layer drive (hooked up)
