Hibernation/standby/energy saving problem with fresh install of Windows 7
Hi, My reasonalbe new PC running Windows 7 has this problem that it cannot automatticly enter energy-saving mode (e.g. standby/hibernation) according to my predefined settings under 'Power Options' in the control panel. I installed a fresh new Windows 7 before on the PC, it had same problems back then. Now recently when I did another fresh install of Windows 7 on it, it still has the same preblems. Thanks,

Clean Boot This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps: 1. Click the Start Button and type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search Box and press Enter. 2. Select the Services tab in the open window. Check the “Hide all Microsoft Services” option and click Disable All. 3. Switch to the Startup tab and click Disable All. 4. Click OK to save the settings and select Restart when prompted. 5. Check whether or not the issue still occurs. Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't adversely affect the system or other programs. We can still manually run these programs later. How to return from a Clean Boot state 1. Click the Start Button and type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search Box and press Enter. 2. On the "General" tab, click "Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services". 3. Click "OK". Click "Restart" when you are prompted to restart the computer. For More Information and help related to windows 7 problems go here

Please share the whole energy report with us. Currently you could go to Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right click on USB Root Hub, click Properties, click Power Management, uncheck the box "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Hi Dale, The problem is solved. I throw away the USB speakers causing the problem. I did try what you said allow it save power, but it is not avialbie as an option. In fact on the energy star website. The speaker is listed as incompatible with power saving feature. https://www.wuala.com/tom.shi.shen/Documents/energy-report-Alienware.mht?key=9weZBj44h8bQ https://www.wuala.com/tom.shi.shen/Documents/PC_Insomnia_Causes_Solutions_7-21-09.pdf?key=9weZBj44h8bQ This forum doesnt support uploading files right?
