High CPU use mystery, happens only when using dual monitors
I have the strange problem with my work PC. Dell D630. laptop with NVIDIA Quadro NVS 135M graphics adapter. The tech guys have not been of much help . Running Win XP pro SP2 I have noticed in the past month or so that when I am connected to the docking station with dual monitors (One VGA and another DVI) the CPU usage is very high so that I can not really use the PC productively. The System Idle Process logs at less than 10% during this. It does not seem to be application specific , even though, it seems to be any of the browsers that I use (IE8, Firefox 3.0.7) and a Services.exe with EventLog and PlugPlay that use most of the CPU. All the scans (Anti-virus and root kit etc) do not show anything abnormal. But when I use only one monitor (LCD from Dell) connected to the dock or use the built-in LCD the same doesn't happen. So I have been in this mode for about a month now. But I really need the dual monitor set-up for the applications that I use. Does anyone have any ideas about this problem. I am frustrated with this. Thanks in advance xfire ASUS P527 WM4 people need an answerI do too
