Homegroup won't share files
Hi,
I set up my homegroup a while ago. It is comprised of a desktop pc runnig on Windows 7 64-bit named and a laptop running Windows 7 starter. I can access files on the PC from the laptop, but I can't do the opposite (files on laptop from PC). I can see
the computer all right in the Homegroup, including the libraries, but it states there are no files included in the library. However, I can access the music files... I ran the homegroup troubleshoot on both machines. On the PC, nothing came up but on the laptop,
it states I have a firewall problem, but it can't fix the issue ("Windows Firewall is incorrectly configured Not fixed").
Thank you for your help.

Have you figured out a solution? I have the EXACT same problem. windows 7 64 bit on the PC with a homegroup set up. The Windows 7 on my laptop - I can access the PC's files from the laptop. From the PC I can SEE the laptop in homegroup
view, but I can not access anything. I've check and rechecked my files, they are shared on all computers. I've tried running the troubleshoot also, but no problems.

Sadly, these solutions didn't help me at all and I don't have a lot of time for myself recently so if you could start a new thread to see if someone can help you fix this issue, I'd be grateful. Simply post the link to your thread in here.

Change the network to a work network and each machines to "WORKGROUP" and you should be fine.

I got it!
At last, I can't actually believe I managed to make this work!
First, open Windows explorer on the computer that won't share the files (the laptop) and right-click on Homegroup. Select Change HomeGroup settings. Click the How do I exclude files and folders? link. Expand the
To prevent specific files or folders from being shared (after creating or joining a homegroup) link. From these steps, you can choose how much content you can share with your homegroup.
How many medals do I get for this? :P
