Hotmail Account hacked... I want to delete it but all my relevant access info has changed.
My hotmail account was hacked and the the problem is that I don't have the password, the reset password question was changed, and the response from Windows Live Solution is nil. I want to shut down this account immediately and permanently. There needs to be a way to shut down an account quickly (meaning 24 hours or less). In the meanwhile, the person who hacked it has access to all my contacts, all info in emails sent/received, and all my contacts are getting the 'Help I'm trapped in nowhereland with no money!' spam. The current system is completely unacceptable. And before I start getting lectures and tutorials about phishing, virus protection, etc, just stop. I have 40 years experience in software and IT, and this is the FIRST time anything like this has happened. I knew within 24 hours of it happening that my account was hacked; I went and checked all PCs I had access to during that time, and I 100% don't believe I gave out my password to anything but a legitimate hotmail page. I checked all PCs for keyloggers and reran virus scans and malware scans. All turned out negative. I have some suspicions and theories of how it happened but that's all they are now.I also have the email headers from the hacker; a friend contacted him/her and strung the hacker along for awhile with some fake ("Oh no! Let me help you out!" stuff. It would be funny if it wasn't so serious.Regardless of how it happened, the current mechanism for closing an account is ridiculous.2 people need an answerI do too
