Hotmail via Outlook Express
Unable to log into Hotmail via Outlook Express during the last 24 hours. Email access via mail.live.com still works fine, however. Have double-checked that settings in O.E. are correct, and unchanged since O.E. access was working fine prior to September 1, 2010.Note: similar problem when using a 3rd party email client: POP Peeper: http://www.poppeeper.com/Error message: "SSL connection failed".+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Edit: found this posting. One year later. what is the status??http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wlsync/thread/93c9219b-e6f4-4552-ad13-6db1bc7697991 person needs an answerI do too

The year old post you cited refers to the point Microsoft stopped allowing WebDAV connections and began supporting DeltaSync connections, back in September of 2009. Outlook Express, of course doesn't "do" DeltaSync. Consequently, back in March of this year, Microsoft opened POP/SMTP access to its servers so Outlook Express (or any POP/SMTP mail client) could access Hotmail mailboxes. If OE stopped being able to access Hotmail a couple of days ago, clearly it has nothing to do with that old post. All I can suggest right now is, first, check the settings. See this: Send and Receive Windows Live Hotmail emails from a Mail Client. Next, wait a couple of days. Hotmail tends to have problems now and then and they usually clear up within 24 or 48 hours.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]------------------------------If a reply helps, please vote it as helpful.
