HowTo: Disable networking for safer/productive development?
WinRc-7100.I have 7100 installed on two partitions. I would like to disable networking on one of these partitions in order to have a "safe/productive partition" and a "risky/unproductive partition". My intention is to access the internet once a day on the "risky/unproductive partition" (email, updates, etc.) and do software development on the "safe/productive partition".Is this possible with 7100, and if so, how? I've been able to do with with WinXp-SP3, and virtual machines using MsVpc-2007-SP1.

You can install the "safe/productive partition" in a VPC using Virtual PC beta for Windows 7 and not connect it to the Internet. This at least looks like what you did on Windows XP.Ray

Ray,I hadn't thought of that speciifcally ... THANKS!I do have the 32-bit 7100 installed as a virtual machine on the 64-bit 7100 partitition. When I attempted to do a "Windows Update" of the 7100-32-bit-VM within the 7100-64-real, I got a message "Unsupported o/s", which motivated me to ask the question. Perhaps I gave up too soon?I think I also have the 7100-RC as a VM on a WinXp-SP3 partition with MsVpc-2007-Sp1.... but I'm close to being totally confused with all the permutations and combinations <g>. Too much indirection. Also, it seems I might have seensomewhare that you couldn't disable networking with 7100 because that would prevent Microsoft from monitoring your experience (a reasonable "big brother" condition of using the RC). But perhaps that was with the 7000 beta.
