How Can I Delete Administrator Account??
On my wife's pc, XP Pro installation would not let us finish until we entered a user name (USERNAME). So now we have two adminstrative accounts, USERNAME and ADMINISTRATOR, which means every time we boot up or emerge from hibernation we must select which account to use.On my pc there is only a MYNAME account (with admin privileges) so I can boot or emerge from hibernation without going thru the pesky logon screen.Any suggestions??1 person needs an answerI do too

OK, now this is clever.XP install forced me to create an account (USERID) before I could exit. Then it created ADMINISTRATOR without asking. Now I have two accounts: USERID (under which I have installed and customized several apps), and ADMINISTRATOR that I have used for nothing. And now I should scrap USERID (and all its apps) and convert ADMINISTRATOR to USERID. Big net loss. No wins here.I really honestly do have another machine with a USERID account and NO ADMINISTRATOR account. Did it yonks ago and can't remember how, but that is what I want to achieve. But how??? Please help me???

Yes I believe you do have a account called USERID of which you are the ADMINISTRATOR and you do not have an account called ADMIISTRATOR. That is because during Setup you come to a page where ADMINISTRATOR is entered, you there changed it to USERID. Your wife did not change it there, hence hers ended up being called ADMINISTRATOR. When she got to the ENTER USERS page she entered USERID. I did many Setups and they are boring but looking back now I think on the USERS page there is a option to SKIP.

Hello,To clarify, Windows will always have a built in account named "Administrator" this is normal and you cannot delete it.For security reasons, you should not use this account as an every day account, it should be restricted to administrative tasks / a backup account just in case. The user you created during setup is an administrator level account, and is fine for every day use.If you do not want to see the multiple users every time you need to log in, you can either disable the built in administrator account or turn on auto log in:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231DavidMicrosoft Answers Support EngineerVisit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

you cannot delete the administrator account, however you can hide it from the welcome screen which is probably what you have on the other computer. to hide the administrator account:1. click start>run and type regedit and click OK.2. navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList3. check to see if there is a value in the right hand side named Administrator if there is skip step 4 if there is not continue4. right click an empty part of the right hand side and click new>DWORD Value and name it Administrator5. double click the value Administrator and set it to 0 if it is not already6.close registry editorafter you have completed these steps you should not see Administrator at the welcome screen (except in safe mode).
