How can I view wireless networks if I don't have a wireless network card?
I just set up a wireless router and wanted to make sure that it's password protected. I don't have a computer with a wireless card, I just want it in case I do get wireless and for now I just want to be able to view all my available networks on my desktop. I think I just set up a wireless network with a password through the 'set up a new connection or network' feature, but now I can't find it anywhere. When I click 'connect to a network' or go down to the bottom right side of the dashboard and click on 'internet access', I only see the wired network I'm currently connected to... Where can I go to view all the networks or the wireless one I just set up and make sure that it is password protected?

Without a wireless network card you won't be able to see the wireless network. But if you: 1. Changed your router's SSID from the default and 2. Set up wireless encryption on the router (at least WEP, but preferably WPA) then you should be all set.

Ok, I scanned for wifi with my phone and it found my password protected network. I tried logging into it, but it kept disconnecting, but I guess that's a whole nother issue.
