If it is Office Outlook please you can find the option below:

If it is a third party application, you may need to confirm with their support. 

It's the "Mail" application that is included with Windows 8, it is called Mail on the Start Menu.

For setting up the Windows Mail features, please click on the following link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/changing-settings.

Reference the section Download email From under Account-Specific Settings for setting up the Windows Mail feature.

To repair Windows Mail, go to the Start Menu and right-click on the Mail icon then click uninstall. When the uninstall process completes, click on the Store icon and in the search box, type in Mail. Install the Mail app then proceed to setup your mailbox.                                                                                                                                                  

                                              

Thanks, that worked. I believe I noticed what was wrong too. The link to adjust the setting is actually listed under "Favourites" and not "Inbox", don't get me started on the lack of a configuration screen which would've overall been a way more appropriate location for such a setting.
