Thanks, I ran both the Windows memory test and another freeware program I found called Memtest86. They are cryptic and its hard to understand the results, but they served my purpose. The new memory I added is bad!. Thanks again.

Yes, memtest86 and WMD are the two memory testing programs that I see referenced the most often. Did both programs suggest faulty memory?

Both memory test programs showed errors on my new RAM. Preliminary debugging, now indicates that my Dell Latitude C600 Laptop only uses low density RAM. The specs didn't indicate any special considerations outside of ordering PC100 (100MZ) 144 Pin (Laptop) SDRAM. The memory I recieved was built with high density memory chips and it looks like that won't work.
