How do you turn off unwanted WEBDAV requests.
I have a server that is continuously receiving WEBDAV requests from one of the windows 7 computers on the network. I don't have WEBDAV setup nor do I want it setup. What do I need to do to turn off the WEBDAV requests on that windows 7 computer? It's filling up my logs with junk. Thanks.

Hi. It would be nice to find out, what application is trying to access the webdav folder (and why). Anyway, your problem might be solved by turning off the service, that allows WebDav - the service is called Web Client Try "net stop webclient" command and check logs, if it helps. As soon as the wife is ready to shut down her computer, I'll give that a try and let you know. I have no idea what application is trying to access a webdav folder. Thanks.

I did that and it said "Service not started". I don't know what else I can do.

If it does not help, please copy/paste the error event, that you see. It would be better to solve the cause of the issue.------- Michal Stoppl, DiS. Please always use Mark as answer if you are satisfied with provided solution.

This is the only thing that shows up in my log. [09/Nov/2010:22:25:19 -0800] Client '192.168.0.105' attempted WebDAV request (not enabled) I just had a problem with her computer accessing the printer. When I finely got it to communicate with the shared printer, I looked at the log and found 100 new requests. I think I know what application is making them. LOL Now all I have to do is figure out why its making the requests. It has to have something to do with the document spooling to the server. Thanks for heads up. Now I may have a trail to follow... lol I'm going to look at the printer setup. If you come up with any other ideas let me know. Thanks again.

Hi. No problem. Maybe you have an oposit problem. As mentioned WebClient is responsible for handling webdav communication. If it is not started (in your case it is not), any attempts to create a connection using webdav fails (this can cause an error messages in your log). Maybe the problem could be solved by just starting the service. net start webclient If you really want to stop an attempts to create a webdav connection, send me an error message from event log and we can try to identify, what/why is trying to create this connection. Also would you run net use > c:\report.txt and copy here the content of the c:\report.txt file? (if it is not confidential) :)------- Michal Stoppl, DiS. I have WEBDAV disabled in the SAMBAR server. My last post seems to have disappeared. The IP address 192.168.0.105 is the computer that is sending the requests. I just want that computer to stop sending the requests. I'll look at her computer tomorrow while shes at work.

I was having some issues with the printer application. I uninstalled the application and reinstalled it with updated drivers. So far all is working. If it comes back, I'll let you know. Thanks for the help. :0)
