How to remove computer from Network
Hi. I have a computer running XP that was set up to be part of a network domain (it was set up for an office environment)Now we don't connect to that network anymore and I would like to remove that domain without doing a complete clean install of XP.I tried to login using (XXX/this computer) and I am able to login but obviously I don't see any of my documents, wireless networks etc.How do I transfer everything so that I can remove the domain without losing any data. emails, and apps loaded?1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,You need to perform a clean installation in this case. Or the other way is to contact the system administrator of the domain.Hope this information is helpful. Hi If I need to perform a clean install here is the dilemma: I have 3 DELL computers in the house and i found a couple of Windows XP disks but I don't know exactly which disk belongs to which computer. Does it matter? Can I just pick one and use it to do a clean install?I would rather not do a clean install because I may not have all the disks for all the applications. BTW what would contacting the network admin do? I have admin access to the computer already.

Hi Jack, I don't really understand your instructions. I don't have a home network.I really would like someone to tell me if I can use any disks to do a clean install using "any" windows XP disks, when I don't know which disk belong to which computer. That will help me out a lot.(I have 3 DELL computers in the house and i found a couple of Windows XP disks but I don't know exactly which disk belongs to which computer. Does it matter? Can I just pick one and use it to do a clean install?)

HiIf all the computers are Dell and the disk are too, it does not matter which disk you use. However, the Key that is typed in has to be the one that is on the computer's case sticker.P.S. If the computers configuration is Not blocked by the domain configuration (or you have the credentials) you can just change it to a WorkGroup configuration. It does not really need to be on one.
