Without knowing what a "squid proxy connection" is, I can say that there's a debugging tool called "Fiddler" that inserts itself on your local system as a proxy. Perhaps there's a way that you can use that to your advantage; I dunno, maybe something like setting Fiddler up to talk to the outside world, then everything will talk through it.
