How to unsubscribe from win 7 emails from ms!?
Anyone know how to remove your email address from the win 7 program database? I decided not to dl win 7, but continue to get tons of email from MS about it - there is no unsubscribe link. Just says "update profile" and I go there - nothing is checked and all comm. preferences are set to not allow emails. Help! Thanks :)

Hi JessRMicrosoft always put an unsubcribe option on all of their newsletter emails. Right at the bottom of the email you should see something like this: "Microsoft respects your privacy. Please read our online Privacy Statement. You are receiving this email because you are a participant in a Microsoft Connect beta program. You can end your participation in a program at any time by visiting Your Dashboard (http://connect.microsoft.com/dashboard/) page and choosing "End Your Participation" for that program. If you have signed up to be contacted about participating in new Microsoft Connect programs, surveys, and events, you will continue to receive those communications unless you unsubscribe by going to Your Profile (http://connect.microsoft.com/profile.aspx). To set your contact preferences for other Microsoft communications, see the communications preferences section of the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Alternatively, if you would prefer to no longer to be contacted by Microsoft Connect, send an email to mchelp@microsoft.com with "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the subject line and we will unregister from Microsoft Connect all up. This is an unmonitored e-mail address, so do not reply to this message. Microsoft CorporationOne Microsoft WayRedmond, WA 98052"I assume you are receiving these emails from Microsoft Connect? If you are not then who exactly is sending you these emails?John Barnett MVP: Windows XP Associate Expert: Windows Desktop Experience: Web: http://www.winuser.co.uk; Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org; Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org;

Thanks for your reply! This email does not have that at the bottom - it only has a link to "update profile" - and my profile has nothing subscribed. It is directly related to when I signed up for the win 7 download link - here is the email. (Not sure if that's ms connect?) Yes I have been to both those pages 20 times. Didn't work. Correct settings on both pages and I'm still getting emails - as recent as a few hours ago.

It's been 13 days :( Also, those pages are not related to wherever these email are coming from. Those settings always were "off" and "blocked" - I never had to change them because they were always set to not receive any emails. Whatever system is attached to the DL of win 7 is where they registered me to get this mail. That's what I cant locate. The win 7 page has nothing, which is why i posted here Thanks!

No JessR your email isn't from Microsoft Connect, this email is for downloads from Technet/MSDN and from the Windows website. If you are a Technet/MSDN subscriber you can contact them via the Technet or MSDN website. If you are not a Technet/MSDN subscriber have you tried clicking on the Privacy Statement link and then, once on that page, clicking on one of the link in the 'contact us' section. Obviously you will need to give them as much information as you can and then ask if they would 'unsubscribe' you.John Barnett MVP: Windows XP Associate Expert: Windows Desktop Experience: Web: http://www.winuser.co.uk; Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org; Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org;

Right that's what I'm saying :) it's not related to those pages and that's where all the live help reps tell me to go - they don't understand the problem even ( I've sent 2 emails from the privacy link/contact us section. Not a subscriber for technet/msdn . All I ever did was fill out 1 form to get the Win 7 beta download. I assumed there would be an opt out area of the win 7 testers but have not found it yet. Thanks !!

Hi JessRI think that this problems needs to be escalated because it is not right that you should not be able to 'unsubscribe'. I'll escalate it with the forum management and see if they can find out from Microsoft what the procedure is to unsubscribe.John Barnett MVP: Windows XP Associate Expert: Windows Desktop Experience: Web: http://www.winuser.co.uk; Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org; Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org;
