I have changed permission and also the Owner of the Windows folder to me but I still cannot write since I get access denied. And also I cannot change the read only flag because I receive access denied again.My account belongs to administrator group and UAC has been disabled. I searched thru GPEDIT.MSC for something relevant but haven't found anything.

Have you tried to put UAC back on to the first settings and see if that works? There seems to be some issues with having UAC off and being able to perform some tasks as running Gadgets. Maybe this is another one of those instances where having the UAC on is needed.I jsut checked and i am able to modify files in my C:\Windows folder and i have UAC on the lowest setting before actually having it turned off. ~Alex T.~Windows Desktop Experience MVP~

What are you trying to write in C:\windows? Really, that is for the OS and not for everyday usersadministrators or not. However, if you must, then open up a command prompt by selecting Run as Administrator from the right-click, context menu. Navigate to c:\windows and make your modifications. If you need more control, enable the local administrator account by issuing net user administrator /active:yes. Switch user to the local admin, make changes, switch back to the user account, and issue net user administrator /active:no.

What if you only have one single account ( admin) and it still tells you that you need permission to move or copy a folder on the C:\ drive? Is the UAC up for a revamp? or how can we disable it completely?

I just installed this version system. I created a new folder with an account which is in administrater group without any warning or message. And I created a notes in the windows directory it mentioned just needing the administrator permission.cooler
