ICS/VPN help
Hello all, I have a question regarding Internet Connection Sharing and VPN, and am wondering if what I am trying to do is feasible. Basically I will working remotely, and be connecting to my companies network via VPN. I have some server/client software that depends upon this connection for licensing reasons (software must connect with the licensed server, which is at the office). Part of the setup as well is attaching a network paper scanner to this remote computer. I would like to be able to share this VPN connection with this scanner, so that this scanner would behave in essence like it is hooked via ethernet cable back in the home office. I went to the properties of the VPN connection, Sharing tab, and checked the box "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" and selected the Home networking connection to be the Local Area Connection that the network scanner will be attached. This network scanner authenticates users via Active Directory in our office network, which is why I am trying to get this configuration working. I have been able to get this working to varying degrees, namely I was able to login to the scanner at one point (failure to connect to LDAP server is the usual occurence), but once I logged in, I was unable to use any of the Scan to Email/Network Folder etc. features. BTW this computer is connected via a wireless USB stick, as I will not be able to count on there being a reliable available connection where I will be setting this up. Anybody know whether this set up is possible, and if so, what I need to do to make this happen!

Connect each computer with a switch. Then make the computer which is connected via VPN the default gateway for other computers. This is not the recommend way to use a remote printer or scanner of a remote site. You can connect to the VPN client computer via RDP and use the printer on it. Refer: How To Make a Local Printer Available During a Connection to a Remote Desktop in Windows XP Professional http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312135 It is also applied for Windows 7.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
