IE 8 Issue
I have a user who is using an application which uses the IE 8 browser. When he tries to export something from the application, he doesn't get the "Save File" option, it directly opens with MS Excel. He wants to have that option, the same application is being used by another user and he gets the option with IE 8 and he can save the file and even give it his own name. When i try to go to File Associations on the affected user's machine, it closes down and it says " Explorer has recovered from an error and restarting" I even restarted the machine of the user and tried to go again to File Associations in Windows 7 , by typing in the start menu, but still the same issue. Can anyone please suggest what can be the issue and how to get the prompt for saving the file, after clicking on export?Pallab Chakraborty

Hi, Please try this KB: How to configure Internet Explorer to open Office documents in the appropriate Office program instead of in Internet Explorer http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=162059 Hope that helps. Hi Leo, The link you provided is not the resolution to my issue. If you check properly, i have written, that the IE 8browser opens the file with MS Excel which it should be doing. The issue is , he is not getting the option to save the file and give it a name of his choice, the user wants that. Another user who is using the same browser based application, gets that pop up to save the file and put a name of his choice. I hope i made myself clear about the issue being faced. Thanks, PallabPallab Chakraborty
