IE 8 does not open new tabs and does not open new window in Windows 7 RC 32bit
I seem to have a problem at the moment with IE 8 (Windows 7 RC 32bit). When I press Ctrl + click to open a link in a new tab, the tab opens butcontinuously says "Connecting..." and nothing loads, no matter how long you leave the tab open.If you right click on a link and select "Open in New Window" nothing happens either. I did a full rebuild last night hoping it would fix the issue but the problem is still there whether local machine user account or domain account is used to lod onto the machine. Windows 7 Build 7100 updates are up to date, Office 2007 SP2 and updates are 100%. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I have tried resetting IE 8 to default, restoring advanced settings, uninstalling and reinstalling IE 8, disabling all add-ons, registering relevant DLL's and still no solution.

I am having the same problem. Did you try the suggestion by derosnec - the MVP script? I checked out the information on the siteand it says it has been tested on XP and Vista. It says nothing about Windows 7. If you have been successful in resolving the issue on your system, please let me know how.

Yes, I've tried the MVP script solution, and it seems to have worked. Since I applied this solution a couple of days agoI've had only one occasion when the new tabs wouldn't work, but I can't remember if this was in Vista or 7 (I've only applied the fix in 7)! Nevertheless this is still better than it has been.

Thanks for all the replies. I have re-installed my notebook since the original post and all is working fine again.I have downloaded the ie8-rereg.zip file for future use.If the problem arises again, I will be sure to use it.Cheers, Clive
