IE Icon to desktop
Hello.I have read that Windows 7 does not allow the registry modification that we used to do with Vista & Windows Server 2008 to add the IE icon to the desktop !!Any other alternative method ? to add the Icon, and not a shortcut ?

Click on the blue Windows 7 start button to bring up the Start Menu. Place your cursor over the Interent Explorer icon and press the left mouse button and drag the icon to the desktop.Carey Frisch

I have read that Windows 7 does not allow the registry modification that we used to do with Vista & Windows Server 2008 to add the IE icon to the desktop !! You CAN edit the registry in Windows 7/2008 R2. Youfirst need to take over ownership of the key, or parent key, and then set permissions.Could you share what modification is needed? I'll try it out on one of my test machines and report back.

Hi, Windows 7 no longer supports the ability to modify the registry to get the special Internet Explorer icon to appear on your desktop. This change was made to ensure Internet Explorer could be removed easily for compliance reasons.Thank you for your understanding.
