IPv4 Missing - Windows XP
I currently am trying to setup a gigabit card, after hours of troubleshooting I realized that all I have is IPv6. I need IPv4 in order to connect.I attempted several ways to try and resolve this issue here are the steps I have taken. 1 - go to cmd and try netsh interface ipv4 install - ipv4 not found2 - Reinstall components in appwiz.cpl I am pretty much lost after this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks1 person needs an answerI do too

HiMake sure that you have the latest drivers for the card.Delete the Card's entry in the Device Manager.Switch off the computer. Disable in the BIOS if it is an onboard card, or take out a PCI card, and boot one time without the Giga NIC.Switch Off boot again and install the drivers. Jack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET

Thank you Jack for the reply.I have gone through these steps and have been unsuccessful. IPv4 is missing with the on-board LAN and the PCI LAN. This makes me believe now that it is Windows XP that is issueOn-board LAN is Realtek RTL819/810x FamilyPCI card is Netgear GA311

Even after I reinstall drivers or confirm where they are. But If I uninstall a protocol and then go back to reinstall it, it lets me reinstall. It's as if IPv4 is completely removed.

I just did some cleanup of this computer, along with some digging to try and find the issue. After several hours I have found that the registry key tcpip4 is missing (I dont know if it is missing because it is not installed). This is a computer that I am working on, and yes it had a virus. It has be quarantined and is no longer on the machine. Now I am left with trying to find how to get the ipv4 protocol back. BTW, they did not have a restore point or any backup of any kind.
