IPv6 disabled; no network connection
I was having network connection problems, so I tried ipconfig to release and renew the connection. Now I get the error IPv6 is disabled. I have tried netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled to no avail. I don't know enough about network settings to change whatever is needed to get online.I have also tried to Bridge my NICs (both built in on MB) and it doesn't work.Anyone know what I can try and find good full answers? KB gives info, but doesn't tell/show how to do anything.

Hi, This issue occurs if the installed driver is corrupt or not compatible. Please try to upgrade the driver from the device manufacturer's website. Also configure the network to obtain IP address and DNS server automatically. If the issue persists, temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall. If the issue still occurs, I suspect that the network adapter is not compatible with Windows 7 RC. Another reason is the router that does not work with the network adapter in Windows 7 RC. Please let us know the information of the result of ipconfig.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Prior to installing 7 I used the compatibility tool from MS to see if I could run 7. It reported that the only non-compatibility thing I had was the program ZoneAlarm. Otherwise it said I would need updated drivers. Windows 7 installed the drivers, I have not tried to change them since they were working. I know the adapters (Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 and nVidia nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet) work because I had connectivity, but one adapter was always shown as Unknown while the other was connected, even if I switched the cat6e wire. The problem started after I tried to access the routers (Netgear RP614 and Motorola VT2442<Vonage>) to do port forwarding for World of Warcraft (which was having a lot of lag from slow connection). When I boot up in XP (dual boot) I have no problems, but 7 will not even "talk" to either of the routers. Note this also occured after renew6 and a restart of Windows. 6to4 is also reported as disabled and I can't find where to enable it. Just in case, the only other thing I did when this occured was to load the Vista 64 drivers for Logitech Gamepad (it was the only 64 bit driver I could find) because 7 did not load the configuration tool needed to "hook" games. The adapters are configured to obtain IP and DNS automatically. I have not changed that between when they did work and then stopped. I will post after trying to install drivers from ASUS.

Your description indicates that the connection works. The issue is that one of the two connections always shows as disconnect when the other connects, additionally from the computer you cannot connect to the router. Is that correct?Arthur Xie - MSFT

Sorry, no.The adaptors work (it is one (1) PC with dual built-in Gbit NICs), but I geta warning that there isno connection. The pictures shown has my computer, then a caution sign, then the routers then an X, then a grayed out world.I deleted the Home Network, then set it up again. It kept telling me that IPv6 was disabled (and IPv6 kept reporting no valid IP address), though it showed enabled in the properties of both adaptors. I unticked them, closed out, reopened and reticked to no avail.I finally uninstalled both adaptors, then checked for hardware changes. 7 installed both adators, but one shows that it is on the home network with internet connection (I am on 7 writing this), the other shows public network with no connectios at all.If I pull the cat5e wire from both, then plug one in and let it connect, then the other one, both will show connected to the internet. If I reverse the order, the later will connect, but the former will once again show public with no connection to the internet. It is always the same nic that goes public, no matter which wire is plugged in.It is definately something to do with the IPv6. It is possible my routers are too old. Maybe even the adaptors are too old.For the moment I have internet connection, but will find out what happens after the next restart.I will post results. So far, to regain connection, I had to uninstall both adaptors in order to get therouters and the internet connection working.

Most of this kind issues are caused by one of the following two reasons. 1. The network adapter driver is not compatible. 2. Related system components are corrupt. If the issue persists after you upgrade the drivers, I suggest you insert the installation DVD and do In-place Upgrade to repair the system. If the network adapters do not work properly after In-place Upgrade, please remove the current network adapters drivers and reinstall them.Arthur Xie - MSFT

The adapters drivers are working, but I'm guessing that since the one adapter is meant to be a gateway for other machines, W7 network does not know exactly what to do with it. Components being corrupt is a possibility. I have tried setup again, but it wants wipe out the current installation instead of repairing it. I have done the available repair, but it does not seem that it checks all the files, just the ones necessary for W7 to start up. I can not do anything else at the moment since I can not start W7 at all. Attempting to get my system to boot up without the W7 RC disk in the drive using bootsect, I do not get the OS selection boot. If I make the drive with W& on it the boot disk, I get ntldr not found error. If I boot from either of the disks with XP on them, the skip the boot manager screen and just start up. I have not tried booting with the DVD drive as first boot yet, but I have used the MB BIOS boot loader to start up and I get the same results. I am going to see if I can find other threads for help on the current problem before returning to this one. Though it is not related to either problem I am having, I did install a AMD 4800 64 x2 CPU yesterday that replaced the AMD 3200 64 I was using. I figured I'd see how W& ran with the fastest, and dual core, CPU this particular MB can use.

You may need to boot with Windows 7 RC installation disc and do Startup and Repair for the system.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Well, have to boot with disk in DVD to start 7 anyways, otherwise boot fails to load. But Ihad done the repairseveral times and still had the problem. I had tried everything I could find and nothing had worked to fix it, but somewhere along the line trying to get dual boot working caused the problem to begin with.Anyway, I have had to completely re-install 7. I "cleaned" the drive I have 7 on so that the install disk had to partition/format it.Network is working, though my Marvell Yukon constantly loads as "Public" "unknown network" which is annoying (and appears that 7 doesn't like it since I found another user with the same problem), but the nVidia one works everytime.I am still having same issue with XP 32 bit and 7 54 bit dual boot, but I have posted that issue in approperiate forum. At this time, complete wipe and reinstall has fixed this issue for me. No other fix attempted resolved this issue.
