My pointer will move while I am clicking and cause me to click on something I did not want it to such as closing my browser window in the middle of doing something which is very aggravating.This problem occurs repeatedly no matter what program I'm using. I don't know why it began doing this. I haven't changed anything and I don't open any ads. I only open emails I trust. I don't search the web often unless I need an answer to a question. I use Hotmail for emails and when I play games I usually go thru Firefox w/No Script.I use Error Fix to block all Bad ActiveX objects. I use Microsoft Security Essentials for security. I have Windows XP SP3 with IE8. I am by no means a tech wiz and I need as simple a fix as possible.1 person got this answerI do too

What type of mouse or pointing device do you use? Perhaps there's a problem with it.

I had to get a new mouse because the mouse I had was not compatible with my laptop. The more I updated the programs the worst my mouse acted erratically. I now have a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000 series and it works great. Thanks for the help. Have a great holiday!Thanks! Cherokeelady

I am having a similar problem. I too am running IE8, Vista HP SP2, Windows Live One Care. Have not found the answer yet, but will let you knowas soon as I get it.

I use a Logitech wireless mouse on a computer with a 3.0 GHz AMD quad core CPU and Windows 7 OS. My mouse would often stutter and stop at different times and I tried several solutions. Putting the USB receiver (wireless only) at the back of a desktop computer may not be a good solution because there is a lot of steel that can block the communication. With a wireless mouse, look to see if any steel is between the mouse and the receiver such as a steel panel or the desktop computer case.A second issue I encountered is that my BIOS had the AMD Cool & Quiet turned on (Advanced tab in BIOS). This changes the CPU multiplier dynamically to save energy. Setting this to Disable improved the mouse performance a lot.Make sure your mouse driver is up to date from the manufacturer.
