I am not able to access a shared printer from another PC on my network. How do I solve this?
I recently replaced my NETGEAR wired router with a NETGEAR WNDR3300 Wireless Gateway. While I am able to share the internet connection both wirelessly and wired, on my PC I have shared my printer, and several directories. My wife's PC does not show my PC in the network, but if I ping my PC from hers, it resolves the IP address, but the ping times out unsuccessfully. This network used to work with the original router. I show my wife's PC on the network on my PC. Since my PC can't be seen on her PC, I cannot add the shared printer to her PC. How do I solve this?1 person got this answerI do too

The firewall program on your computer probably sees the new router as a new, untrusted network. Configure the firewall to allow access by other computers on the network.

I am using McAfee for my Internet Firewall, how would I configure that? I checked my LAN status, and it shows the Windows Firewall enabled, but with File and Printer sharing turned on. Do I also need to configure the firewall on the PC sharing the printer as well as the PC trying to attach to the printer?

Configure every computer's firewall to trust the local network and allow File and Printer Sharing. Running more than one firewall is likely to cause problems. Choose either McAfee or Windows Firewall, and disable the other one. I suspect that McAfee needs to be configured to trust the new router's network. I don't know what version of what McAfee product you have, but here's how to do it on the McAfee Security Center program provided by Comcast: 1. Double click the red M in the system tray. 2. Click Internet & Network . 3. Click Configure . 4. Under Firewall protection is enabled , click Advanced . 5. Click Networks . 6. If your router's network doesn't say Trusted , click the network, click Edit, and select Trusted from then menu. You can also get help in the McAfee Community forums.

When I went into McAfee, there were actually two networks listed, one Public and one Trusted. I deleted the Trusted one, and modified the Public one to Trusted. That seems to have solved the issue. Thanks!
