Turn off E-mail scanning in AVG 9.0. It isn't necessary, and it can cause problems like this.

Very interested in this suggestion to turn off email scanning. I believe you (of course - you're a moderator!) but can you pleae explain why you make this recommendation..Thanks in advance.

Sure. E-mail scanning in your antivirus program: Can slow down receiving and sending messages or even make them fail. Can corrupt the storage files for messages that you've already sent and received, making the messages inaccessible. Isn't necessary. If you receive an infected attachment and try to open it, your antivirus program's real-time protection feature will block the infection. FYI - I got "unexpected error" when I tried to mark your original response as a valid answer, (maybe because it's now not the last comment in the thread?), so I've marked this response as providing the answer.

I think that the error was just a momentary problem with the forums. Please try marking my original answer again, and un-mark the other one.Boulder Computer MavenMicrosoft Most Valuable Professional
