I need some direction/help in resolving a BSOD -PNP_DETECTED_FATAL_ERROR (ca)-
The crash occurs durint the installation of AMD's Catalyst Control Center.
The system is running Win 7 64bit (with SP1 installed). Based on what I have found out so far, the issue seems to be related to Deleted PDO reported as relation: One of the removal relations for the device being removed has already been deleted.
Below is the crash code and information generated by MS Crash analyzer wizard. Per the wizard pci.sys is probably at fault
PnP encountered a severe error, either as a result of a problem in a driver or
a problem in PnP itself. The first argument describes the nature of the
problem, the second argument is the address of the PDO. The other arguments
vary depending on argument 1.
Arguments:
Arg1: 000000000000000b, Deleted PDO reported as relation
One of the removal relations for the device being removed has
already been deleted.
Arg2: fffffa8009d94860, Related PDO
Arg3: 0000000000000001, Removal relations
Arg4: 0000000000000000
Given that this is true, how do I resolve. Any help or suggestions are appreciated
Thanks

As you said, the problem was probably caused by pci.sys.
Have a look to this Microsoft article named "Pci.sys IS Missing or Corrupt Error Message When You Start Windows".
Please use Microsoft skydrive to upload dump files (%systemroot%\minidumps like c:\windows\minidumps). Once done, post the link here so that I download them and I analyze them.
If you want to debug dump files without my help, please refer to this Microsoft article.
Use WinDbg to debug in this case.
I think the Bug Check Code was 0xCA. For more information, refer to this
Microsoft article.

Thank you for responding to my plea for Help.
I am assuming that if the MS Crash Analyzer tool is used to "debug" a dump file, the DMP file is deleted since I was unable to locate the mem.dmp or any other *.dmp files I would normally expect to find after a crash. I have uploaded a copy of
the Analysis.log file generated by the Crash Analyzer tool to SkyDrive at the following link:
https://cid-503bbe9f5be5323a.office.live.com/browse.aspx/Bugcheck?Bsrc=EMSHOO&Bpub=SN.Notifications
If needed, I will rerecreate the crash, capture and then upload the dump files.
The Bug check was in fact 0xCA. I did review the article you linked to, it was informative, and after following the steps outlined for resolving STOP errors, the issue still occurs. The info would probably mean more to me if I had a better understanding
of how and what creates the PDO in question.
In regards to the PCI info link you provided, I did try running SFC / scannow, however, no problem files or corruption was detected. Is it safe to assume that SFC would catch a corrupt pci.sys file? I have not yet attempted a repair or inplace
upgrade.
If the analysis.log file is not suitable, let me know, and I will recreate the crash.
Thanks

Thank you for your suggestion, I have verified that the system bios and chipset drivers are up to date, however the issue still occurs.
Any suggestions on how I can find out more on the following arguments returned in the Bug crasch code:
Arguments:
Arg1: 000000000000000b, Deleted PDO reported as relation
One of the removal relations for the device being removed has
already been deleted.
Arg2: fffffa8009d94860, Related PDO
Arg3: 0000000000000001, Removal relations
Arg4: 0000000000000000
I think the key to isolating the cause of the issue is staring at me in these arguments. I just do not have the right tools or knowledge to act on the information provided.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for update.
If it is possible, please help us upload the dump file in this post for analyzing.
According to the log file, it seems that this is related to device drivers, I suggest you try to perform a device clean boot to check if we can find the root cause.
Device Clean Boot
==============
In this situation, your system will only have the basic hardware devices and it should be more stable. If it is inconvenient to unplug the devices, we can disable
them in Device Manager. Please refer to the following steps:
1. Click "Start", type "DEVMGMT.MSC" in the Search textbox and press Enter.
2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
3. Right click on your Sound Card, select "Properties"
4. Click "Driver" tab, click Disable (Disable the selected device). Click OK
5. Please use the same method to disable other hardware such as: Modem, network card, CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available
to be disabled.
6. Please restart the computer. Check how it works.
Or, it is recommended to update your device drivers.
