Im using my laptop for personal and work purposes. I need to know how to keep my files seperate, please help!!!
Hi, I just got a new job in which I will be using my personal laptop for work and I will be using the work network when I am there. I need to know the best way to setup my computer so that my personal files will not be visible/accessible to the people at work and vice versa. i dont know if I should make a new user account on my computer or how to most efficiently set this up. I am on Windows 7 home edition. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

If your laptop connects to a "domain" at work and is registered part of that domain. Then im afraid unless you password protect each file/folder using third party software the network administrators will have access to the files. You could however just store your home files on a portable hard disk. Then encrypt the harddisk to make sure its safe.MyPcHealth ------ Some Free Tools

Since your Laptop runs HOme edition, you will not be able join a domain as its not supported for that edition. Your best bet is to create two seperate local accounts if you want to easily keep the data seperate, or just create a different folder structure on the hard drive. Either way, it doesnt impact/affect the "visibility and/or accessibility". If you dont want others to access your files, make sure you do not create any shares containing data that should not be shared.Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

Please set password for your user accounts, and lock the computer whenever you are away. Also turn off FIle and Printer Sharing. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
