Incorrect Processor Recognition
My apologies if this has come up already but I couldn't find an answer. I have a Dell Inspirion 6000 laptop, (I know it's kinda old), loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything is working except Windows only recognizes my processor as a 1.5 GHz Pentium M when it should be a 2.8 GHz. I'm wondering if Windows didn't auto-load the wrong processor driver. Has anyone else run into this or have any thoughts on how to fix it? The computer is slow enough as is without having Windows cripple my speed even more. Thanks!Tyler

Hi Tyler, you might want to try setting your laptop's power settings to "high performance". To do that, go to the "control Panel", view as classic, look for "power options" and then select the "high performance" option. I believe that the power settings is limiting your speed.

Hi, When did this issue first occur? Right after installing windows 7?From the introduction of your PC, the process is PENTIUM M DOTHAN which contains the feature called speedstep. That indicate the process will not achieve its top performance without running large program. Thus, I would like to confirm if it stays 1.5 GHz all the time even when playing vedio game. You can refer to Eugene's suggest to set the settings to "high performance" or you may need to change it from BIOS.Besides, please confirm with Dell if there is any BIOS update available.
