Install SNMP after SP3 installs
I am attempting to use a software to manage my Windows PCs on the network. Part of this set up requires the SNMP protocol to be installed. I follow the directions to install the SNMP protocol from the Add Windows component section in Windows XP Pro. My Windows XP Pro SP3 constantly asks for the Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 CD. I did not have a SP3 CD so I created a "slipstream" CD with SP3 on it. It still does not work. How do I get SNMP protocol to be installed after SP3 have been installed of some time?1 person needs an answerI do too

You might try downloading just SP3 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&displaylang=en#Overview-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com | http://www.onenote-tips.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

I do not have any problems with SP3. SNMP will not install after SP3 is install and will never copy the files from any Windows XP Pro install CD that has SP3 integrated into it.It seems that I'm getting generic "canned" answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you go to Control Panel | Services do you see the SNMP service installed and started? -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com | http://www.onenote-tips.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

It is not installed as part of the Add / Remove Programs --> Add / Remove Windows Component, so its is not started! And I can not install it as Windows XP failes to copy the files that is correctly "listed" there.

Ah, well you didn't say that. Did you try downloading the standalone SP3? I suggested it because it's possible that there was some issue with your slipstreamed XPSP3 that perhaps trying to install and having the standalone SP3 would resolve. -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com | http://www.onenote-tips.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

I'm having the same issue, when I try to install snmp on my XP sp3, the installation program can't find the required DLLs in the C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder or on the XP Disk, despite the fact the DLL files are in these two locations. I tried to copy those dlls on the desktop and point it with the "browse" button, same problem, after the file is selected the installation program keeps saying that it can't copy the files. any idea ?
