Installation of Hyper-v Fails on Windows 8-pro ( Failure configuring windows features, reverting changes. )

I'm trying to get the Windows Phone 8 Emulator working which requires the installation of Hyper-V.  I have wasted already two days trying to install Hyper-V, it seems to install, gets to about 98%. and then I get a message:  "Failure configuring windows features, reverting changes". then it reboots and uninstalls/reverts the installation attempt..

I have tried the following:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

If no error detected, try to run

Sfc /scannow

I have also tried to install using powershell, which doesn't seem to work..

If I look in the event viewer setup files I see the following entries:

Description:
Update Microsoft-Hyper-V of package Microsoft-Hyper-V-ClientEdition-Package failed to be turned on. Status: 0x800f0922.
Description:
A reboot is necessary before the selectable update Microsoft-Hyper-V of package Microsoft-Hyper-V-ClientEdition-Package can be turned on.

I have also run the coreinfo tool with the following results:

So, did you reboot?

In the BIOS have you enabled SLAT, Execute Disable, and virtualization?  Then you did a cold boot? (pull battery and all if its a laptop)

In this thread:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/3369897e-5887-494f-a227-44b648e4ede6/cant-install-hyperv-client-on-windows-8-pro

Is also this:

- inserted the windows 8 media and chose repair

- went through diskpart to make the partition active again (i wasn't for some reason)

- ran bootrec /fixmbr + bootrec /fixboot + bootrec /rebuildbcd (just to be sure :))

- rebooting back into windows 8

- was able to install hyper-v now :)

Of Course I rebooted several times,

I never had to change anything in the bios as it was already enabled

All I want to do is run the Windows Phone emulator, this is a major drawback and a flawed installation to take so much time.

I will try the windows repair.

I've tried over and over again, it just doesn't want to work,  I have no problem with the vmplayer, however I even uninstalled it thinking it might be conflicting with hyper-v

I guess if I can't get this working shortly, I'll just forget about developing for Window Phone and just continue on with the other emulators that work

Do you run an AV engine that has its own firewalling program?

Or are you running any 3rd party antivirus?

Hi,  No the only anti-virus program I might use sometimes is the Microsoft one..

IS this what is stopping me from installing Hyper-V,  Also please bear in mind the only reason that I'm wishing to install Hyper-v is to run the wp8 emulator.

Thanks, and looking forward to your response..

you have some issue with the servicing stack (the component which activates features and installs updates)

and later in the log I see the same firewall issue again.

if it is ok to reinstall all desktop applications, do a refresh:

If you don't want to loose them, try the inplace upgrade from Vista/7 to repair your Windows:

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me out..

The in place upgrade did the trick and I didn't need to reinstall anything so that was great.

thank you very much.
