Installing GSM-modem driver in Windows 7 to connect the PC to PDA
I am trying to set up the Internet connection from my notebook via PDA. Both notebook and PDA are connected via Wifi, so PDA basically works as access node-point and router bw two networks, the wireless one and mobile. The reason for doing all that is because my notebook is not equipped with mobile GSM-modem or Bluetooth, so I cant surf the Internet from my notebook when I am in the car for instance. The wireless connection is already in place (thanks to WMWifiRouter), however the access to Internet from notebook is not working. To my understanding before I can go connected I will have to install on my notebook a driver for mobile GSM-modem on PDA (at least this is how it worked for my old broken Qtek S110, which I used to connect to notebook via USB cable ). The 1st question that I have to ask is how to install a modem driver in Windows 7 manually? The 2nd question is what network settings I shall enable on my notebook for firewall and for network detection (Control Panel - > Network control Centre - > Change public access parameters)? My Hardware: 1. Phone Manufacturer: RoverPC 2. Phone Model: G7 Pro 3. Mobile Operator: Beeline-Russia 4. Phone Operating System version: Windows Mobile 6.1 5. Zune software version: N/A 6. Computer Operating System version: Windows 7 Home Basic x64 My colleagues hardware available for testing (when I tried it, it didnt work either): 1. Phone Manufacturer: Qtek 2. Phone Model: S200 3. Mobile Operator: Beeline-Russia 4. Phone Operating System version: Windows Mobile 5.0 5. Zune software version: N/A 6. Computer Operating System version: Windows 7 Home Basic x64

Hi, Regarding your first question, Windows 7 can recognize your PDA automatically. You don't need to download any device driver for it. For more information, you can refer to the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-ca/totalaccess/columns/windows-mobile-laptop-internet-access.mspx Regarding your second question, you don't need to change anything about public access parameters. When setting the connection, you could disable your security software or firewall temporarily. Thank you, Nikki. You are quite right, I can synchronize both PDA and notebook via USB cable using Internet sharing function on PDA. However sometimes when I dont have the cable I do need to connect to Internet wirelessly. So my question primarily referred to such situations. What shall I do in such cases?

Hi, To connect your notebook with PDA via wireless, please make your notebook as an ad-hoc. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dd296746.aspx Then use ICS way to connect two device. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Using-ICS-Internet-Connection-Sharing After that, Windows Mobile phone should have another way to let you share Internet.
