Intel Graphics driver works in Vista, won't in Win7
http://www.tboekholt.com/Images/d610driver.jpg This driver will run perfectly in Vista with Compatibility Mode on Windows XP but it won't under Windows 7. I tried setting the all the EXE-files of the driver to comp.mode.WinXP but it won't work. Any suggestions?

I AZZKickah: You will need to install a more modern PCIe graphics card in order to run Windows7. Your onboard Intel graphics chip will not work correctly in Windows 7. You can use any graphics card that is certified to work with Windows Vista and it will work fine with Windows 7. Suitable graphics cards are available for as low as $30-40 online, slightly higher at retail outlets. This problem is covered in the Windows 7 release notes. I get an error message saying the Driver Installation has failed and Windows has set all changed settings back to their original. How would I be able to change the Video chip in a laptop?Still I think it is strange that the driver will work flawlessly in Vista but it just won't in Win7. Even more I think that is strange because the device is being installed, you can see it being detected in the Device Manager and placed under Display Adapters, it even says 'working correctly' but then after a reboot, everything is back to Standard VGA.It's a pity because, what I have seen of and tried with Windows 7 up till now makes me a very happy man :)

Hi AzzKickah: I'm sorry.....I didn't see in your original post that your PC was a laptop. I'm guessing you won't see any drivers that will work with your laptop for Windows 7. It requires capabilities that your graphics chip doesn't possess. Microsoft posted the release notes containing that notice at the time Win7 Beta was released so that users would know that there would be problems with the older graphics chipsets.

Problems? but when installed it works (although it knows it has an unknown problem) and if I install it each time I boot I am able to use it.

From Windows 7 Release Notes: Video drivers Systems which use XDDM drivers may completely stop responding in certain scenarios. The computer will not respond to CTRL+ALT+DELETE and you will have to cycle the power to restart the computer, with the attendant risk of loss of unsaved data. Some activities which have been demonstrated to trigger this issue include, but are not limited to: Using Winsat.exe or using the Rate and improve your computers performance tool. Changing multi-monitor configurations DVD or other video playback To avoid this, do not use XDDM drivers, but find an appropriate WDDM driver instead. If your video chipset does not have a WDDM driver (such as the Intel 915), use a VGA driver or an GPU that supports WDDM drivers. If this issue occurs at setup, either avoid unattended setup or uninstall the XDDM driver and use a VGA driver until setup is complete.

Hi Robinson Zhang: How come you marked your reply as the answer when I posted the same answer 2 days earlier? I'm trying to get a second medal LOL
