Internet DSN not responding with only one router and computer.
Hello. I really need some help. My internet was been working fine recently at both my Mother's (AT&T) and Father's (Local only server called Insight) but when I returned to my Mother's house from being at my Fathers, my internet wasn't working. I tried everything, I'm a bit tech-savvy myself, but nothing worked. I did the obvious, disconnect and reconnect, I did the step up, diagnose it in network and sharing center (DSN server is not responding.), I called AT&T who got it working for all of about 10 seconds (just enough time to say it was working and hang up), I even restored my 2WIRE router to factory settings, but everything I tried failed. Then I realize Skype, Steam, LogMeIn Hamachi, and some multiplayer games worked, Minecraft and Garry's Mod. Also my mom on her Laptop could connect. I could browse regularly using an Ethernet cable but that can't be done often because my computer and coding area is in a different room than the router. Another thing is that when I used my Cellphone to wirelessly tether my computer (use my phone as a wireless router), that worked fine. That is what I'm doing right now. I changed the preferred DNS server to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 (I think that is one I changed it to) and that didn't work. I changed it to Obtain DSN server automatically and that barely worked for all of 10 seconds like whenever I was talking to the AT&T agent, and even then it was UNBELIEVABLY slow. Thank you for any help and thanks for listening to the problem. Additional notes: I recently used a program called PFConfig to forward my ports for a Garry's Mod server my friends and I have been working on but I changed the settings(to fake settings for a made up router) and uninstalled it (needless to say the problem persisted)

Hi, I would like suggest you check if this router can get a public IP address. If not, you should make sure you set this router in the right way. If you dont know how to set this router, you should contact your ISP or this routers manufacture for help. If your router can work well, you should check your system. Please set your DNS to 8.8.8.8 for test. Finally please try to refresh your DNS. Run the CMD as administrator and type "ipconfig /flushdns" Hope this helps.Spencer TechNet Community Support
