Internet Explorer Tabs Wont Browse and Jump Lists are Gone
Hello, I'm running W7 RC and I have been having problems with Internet Explorer. Ocassionally I will open a tab that will not load any web pages, not from bookmarks, typed addresses or google searches. I might have to open 3 or 4 new tabs before I get one which actually works! To try and resolve this I removed and reinstalled IE8 using the "Turn Windows Features On or Off" tool. I unticked the box for IE8, restarted, re-ticked it and restarted again. Only now I don't have full jump lists either in the taskbar or in the start menu, all that remains in the taskbar jump list is the "Internet Explorer" "Pin this program to taskbar" and "Close Window" options. If anyone knows how to get the jump lists back or how to stop the problem with the tabs not loading your help would be much appreciated. Cheers Kim

Hello Kim, and thank you for your posting. As an answer to the questions above, I suggest the following:1. Go to the Tools menu om the Command bar, right to the tabs. Then go to Manage Add-ons. Try to disable ALL add-ons and then enable them one by one, to try to find the add-on that causing the problem, if you have any.2. Try to remove the Internet Explorer icon from the Taskbar, and then try to pin the Internet Explorer's executable again: open C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer , right-click the iexplore.exe -> Pin to Taskbar. If you do not see this option, try to open the context menu with the Shift button being pressed.Cheers,Arseny

Thanks for your reponse Arseny. But as if by magic! my jump lists have returned and not only that they are exactly as they were before I removed IE! I made no changes at all, they just reappeared after I clicked the link in the e-mail about your response to my post!I will try disabling add-ons to see if that stops the problems with the tabs and will let you know if I find anything.CheersKim

Kim, you canalso try to open IE without add-ons already, then try enabling them one by one.Just open Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) , then if it solves the tab problem, that means the problem is causing by add-ons for sure.Cheers,Arseny

Hi, I have been running IE with No Add-ons but it is still suffering from tabs that don't navigate. Are there any other things that might help? I should mention that I have noticed this same problem with my girlfriends machine that is also running W7 RC. Cheers Kim

Have a look here:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/dd10c508-1755-4114-aa56-76317e86ac37andtry theMVP script (link in the last post by 'derosnec')to re-register the dll's.This appears to have worked for me.The amount of people who seem to be suffering from this I'm surprised there isn't a dedicated thread or a 'sticky' answer...

Hi, I tried following the instruction from that link, but the script reports ERROR: Access is Denied! I ran it as administrator and normally with the same outcome. I am still experiencing the same problem with the tabs in IE8 Any ideas welcome. Cheers Kim
