Hi, I've tried backing up on Windows 7 and noticed that the Users (Documents & Settings) folder is chosen for backup, having explored this folder a bit I'm wondering if it is safe to actually restore this folder from a backup after reinstalling Windows 7? The things which are of particular concern are the NTUSER files and also it seems like a lot of temporary and local cache files. I assume that these aren't included in backups. Apart from that inside the appdata folders the Microsoft folder contains some files which have cryptic filenames. My guess is that these are security certificates. Could somebody clarify a bit - are these files safe to restore to a different installation?

Hi, I think it is safe to restore the user folder on a different computer. Data files that are saved in libraries, on the desktop, and in default Windows folders for all people with a user account on the computer will be selected for backup. Default Windows folders include AppData, Contacts, Desktop, Downloads, Favorites, Links, Saved Games, and Searches.
