Is it possible to activate ICS and homegroup together with a crossover cable ?
As title. I have two computers which is connected with cross over cable. Before I activate ICS to share internet connection, I managed to make two computers in a homegroup where they can share files and printer etc. After that, I bridged my 2 LAN cards, and activate the ICS. In my bridges LAN, it auto changed to 192.168.0.1 which I think is normal for ICS. Then my another PC set an IP of 192.168.0.20 with it's gateway and DNS 192.168.0.1, and I suceeded to share internet connection. But by this way, I am unable to linked both PC under a homegroup, thus can't share anything besides internet. So, my question is, is it possible to do both file/prrinter and internet share among two PCs at the same time ? What's the setting have to be done ? Both using W7 x64. Sorry if my question a bit dumb but I am not so good in networking stuff. :)

I suspect that this is because you have bridged the network adapters. Additionally, the peer to peer connection between cross over cable has several problems in Windows systems. If you are using a switch but not a directory connection with cross over cable, it may work properly. The following article has explained the reasons and our support policy. Using Crossover Cables in Home or Peer-to-Peer Networks Therefore, let's try our best to find the solution. However, if we could not make it work, I recommend you involve a router as a final solution. We can enable ICS without Network Bridge. Please remove the bridge temporary. Then re-configure the settings to enable ICS. Please check if the network location is changed automatically. To establish HomeGroup, we need to set both computers in "Home Network". Additionally, since you have changed the IP address of the other computer to 192.168.0.20, please check the IP settings in the ICS host computer. The adapters that is connect to Internet has been set to 192.168.0.1, please also check the IP address of the network adapter that is connected to the other computer is set to 192.168.0.*. If the network status are correct, please let me know the detail error message when you access the other computers in HomeGroup. Also, please temporary remove HomeGroup, then check and let us know if file sharing works properly. For your information, the following website has introduced ICS in Windows computers. Thanks for the reply. I did tried unbridged and setup like how you mentioned, but it doesn't help somehow. BUT i somehow solved the problem with bridged connection. The problem is that in my PC the bridged LAN is identified as 'unidentify network'. And my PC LAN has IPv6 turned off. I came across that a post saying that homegroup is utilizing IPv6 so I turned it on. And then I try to force-changing my unidentify network to home network, and then everything just run smoothly, with internet sharing and file/printer sharing. Thanks again.
