Is there any way to recover files deleted from client using offline files when the machine was connected to the original file source when they were deleted in a peer to peer xp network?
I have to look after a peer to peer xp pro network.Attached to this is a cheap no brand NAS disk array 2 disk raid mirror. I have a laptop user who has their my documents on the NAS device and offline files running.Yesterday they deleted a few folders from the laptop whilst connected to the network, thus live on the NAS disk.If the machine had not been connected to the network I could have made copies of them on the NAS and then copied them back!Offline files seem to be deleted immediately and bypass the recycle bin.Is this so?Is there any way to recover the files from the users laptop disk?I have stopped them from using the machine immediately (within minutes) and shut the machine down immediately.Don't know if that was the right thing to do but it seemed so at the time! Can't track them down on the NAS and that is a Linux type ext2 file system, don't know anything about Linux!I understand quite a bit about csc, where the folders are etc, but in this case the problem is not corruption of the csc, but deliberate (accidental!) deletion of files from the csc & db.Please help!!!TIAPaul1 person needs an answerI do too
