It's 2012 now...
Same problem, different year. I too have tried EVERYTHING. (Please, no romper room suggestions.) The ONLY way I can get Windows 7 Pro 64 to connect to the internet is by connecting the NIC directly to my cable modem. I cannot find a way to prevent Windows from "identifying" the network, which seems to be where the issue lies. After trying endless false solutions, I reinstalled Windows with the direct connection to the modem to no avail. Windows' troubleshooting always identifies wiring or the router, a Netgear FVS336G in single WAN mode, as the problem, which it is NOT. I am frustrated to near speechlessness that a problem of this magnitude has persisted for so long without a definitive solution being widely disseminated.

I presume that this is somehow linked to some previous discussion. It would be nice to know what that was. Without it, there is not enough info here to make any suggestions. Bill

Hi, What is the performance of another computer on the network? What is the settings on your router? What about the TCP/IP settings of the NIC? You'd better provide more in details. Here is one guide about network in Windows 7 can be referred to.
